Divisions for Competition
1.
Drawing- Any black and white or color drawing. No Painting. Mediums are pencil, charcoal, pen and ink, conte’, pastels, colored pencils, colored ink.
2.
Mixed Media- batik, collage, combinations of medium (two-dimensional only)
3.
Paintings- watercolor, acrylic, oil, tempera, etc.
4.
Photography- all inclusive, minimum size 4 x 6”, photos do not have to be developed by the photographer. DO indicate to judges when the photographer has done all the work.
5.
Printmaking- woodcut, block print, intaglio, silk screen, etc.
6.
Ceramics- three dimensional art from the clay medium; pottery, sculpture
7.
Sculpture- three dimensional pieces of art other then clay; plaster, wood, paper, etc.

Thursday. Judge. (closed between 7-8 for judging)
Requirements
No late work. All projects are expected to remain on display until the end of the event.
Judging Criteria
When judging the artwork for the competition, the judges will be taking into consideration many different factors. Each judge will evaluate the pieces entered individually and comparatively in the following categories.
Overall appearance: Does the work look well presented for its category? Is it balanced, well composed, well executed and impressive to the eye?
Originality: Is the artist using innovative approaches to the subject of his/her work? Is the subject or medium overused or commonplace among the work of his/her peers?
Composition: Does the artist use the space well? Balanced? Do all the components of the piece work together to achieve an overall theme or idea that flows and works the viewer’s eye around the surface of the piece?
Difficulty: Is the piece, its subject matter, medium and the way it’s approached a challenge to the level of the creator. (i.e. age)
